Move to Linux With These Programs/Packages

Many people want to switch from either Apple and especially Windows to Linux.

It can be a bit challenging to make the move due to substitute programs.

Well… you don’t need adobe, you don’t need MS Office, You don’t need any of those high priced programs.

My favorite Linux programs.

These are programs I could not live without using Linux

Xara Extreme — I hope they update this soon in Ubuntu/Kubuntu
Scribus — a fantastic page layout program
Gimp — image manipulation program, and animation program
Kooka — great scanning program
XSane — great for photo copying

Freeloader - great download program
Gaim - chat (yahoo, aol, … everything!)
Filezilla — really easy to use FTP program
Bluefish Editor — html editor

Amarok — music player
Audacity — recorder
Movie Player
KAudio Recorder — ripper
Kaffeine — music and video

Office
Open Office — MS office replacement
Adobe Acrobat
Kontact — PIM
Korganizer uses Kontact
